Card for FMS Sketch #644

Made this for Sketch Challenge #644 at Freshly Made Sketches. I recently bought a card kit from Simon Says Stamp and these beautiful papers came with it. I love how easy it is to coordinate papers when they all come in the same paper pad! The roses inspired me to use an old set from Altenew - Vintage Roses. The set consists of layered stamps which are a bit of a challenge to line up....but thanks to the MISTI and a little patience, I was able to stamp several flowers and various leaves. A few months ago, I created a little swatch book of all my inks so that came in very handy when choosing all my ink colors. I usually make birthday cards, but these papers prompted me to make a thinking-of-you card which I will be sending to someone who is homebound. I'm sure it will bring a smile. Thanks to all at FMS for providing such inspiring sketches!

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Altenew: Vintage Roses; Fiskars: Friendly Flowers (sentiment)

You Make Me Melt

Made this 'quick' Valentine for the MFT Wednesday Sketch ChallengeThe ice cream cone, cherry & sentiment are all from My Favorite Things You're the Sweetest Stamp Set while the little drips are from Sunny Studio Sweet Shoppe Stamp Set. After I stamped the three pieces for the ice cream cone, I decided to use foam to add some dimension. Because the ice cream piece lays on top of the edge of the cone, it was a little tricky to get the foam pieces right. I figured out that I had to cut the top of the cone out of the ice cream foam piece in order for the whole thing to lay flat. I'll have to remember that trick! I then added some hearts using Distress Ink and a heart stencil and some white hearts from Simon Says Stamp Stacked Hearts Die. Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Paper: The Paper Studio
Stamps: My Favorite Things: You're the Sweetest, Sunny Studio: Sweet Shoppe
Dies: My Favorite Things: You're the Sweetest, Simon Says Stamp: Stacked Hearts
Ink: Distress Oxides: Picked Raspberry & Candied Apple, Memento Luxe: Peanut Brittle
Stencil: Hedi Swapp

Wishing On a Star

Made these two cards for My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #435. I have a ton of cards to make for the month of May, but sometimes when I HAVE to make a card, it isn't as much fun as just making a card because Inspiration hits. So rather than setting out to make one of the cards on my To-Do List, I set out to see what supplies I had that could fit this sketch. My recently purchased Stargazer Paper Pad made me think of my Rocket Scientist Niece who currently works with satellites (but whose birthday is not until August). While I was at it, I did manage to make a second card for a May Graduate so I get to check one off the To-Do List and I am actually ahead-of-the-game for August! Woo-hoo!

These cards were made very similarly, using string (embroidery floss), a die-cut star and a full moon (cut from a one of the papers) for the three circle shapes on the sketch.  The stars were colored by using a Brush Strokes stamp - the card above was embossed in Sapphire, while the card below was embossed with VersaMark then topped with Perfect Pearls. Both sentiments were embossed in Sapphire. Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Paper: The Paper Studio: Stargazer Foil Pad
Dies: Sizzix Originals: Stars #2, Simon Says Stamp: Wishing, Wplus9: That is All (amazing)
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp: Sending and Wishing, Wplus9: That is All, Hero Arts: Brush Strokes (inside of Star)
Ink: VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black
Other: Perfect Pearls, Sapphire Embossing Powder, Fun Foam (behind the star)

Azaleas in Violet

Adding this to Sketch Challenge SC737 over at splitcoaststampers.com. I was able to put this card together rather quickly since I had stamped several panels while making my sister-in-law's birthday card. These flowers were colored with blue-violet markers and the matching background paper is from two different paper pads- surprisingly, they matched very well! The sentiment, stamped here in Dusty Concord Distress Ink, is from Altenew. The inside was also stamped in Dusty Concord Distress Ink with stamps from Our Daily Bread and Simon Says Stamp. TFL!

Supplies:
Paper: Our Daily Bread Designs: Christian Faith Collection, Kaisercraft: Lilac Avenue Collection, X-Press It Blending Card
Stamps: Power Poppy: Azalea, Altenew: Heartfelt Sentiments, Our Daily Bread Designs: Flourished Verses
Ink: Distress: Dusty Concord, Memento: Tuxedo Black, Copics

SC736

I'm entering this in Split Coast Stampers Sketch Challenge #736. Grateful for the inspiration! I wanted to use some of my newer supplies, especially that marble background stamp. I started out by clear embossing the marbled image and inking over that with a few distress inks. I die cut a heart, then popped it up with foam to add dimension. I remembered that I had a stash of left-over little hearts, to which I added a few white highlights. However, when I went to adhere them, I somehow lost one of them....which happens too often! This time, I eventually found the missing heart (while cleaning up of course) stuck to the underside of my craft mat. Ugh.

Supplies:
Paper: Recollections Valentine's Day
Stamps: My Favorite Things: Marble Background
Ink: Distress: Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries, VersaMark
Dies: Sizzix Originals: Heart #2, My Favorite Things: LLD Hot Cocoa Cups Die-namics, Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Set
Other: Altenew: Splatter Stencil, washi tape, white colored pencil

I made a second card by adhering the marbled panel w/the heart cutout on red cs, then heat embossing a sentiment in white. Scattered a few mini hearts in white, red and worn lipstick to finish this card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Bright and Cheery Hello

I spend so much time finding inspiration on the internet and very little time actually creating anything. This searching often results in me adding more items to my Wish List and feeling like my current stash of supplies is inadequate. Well, today's card was made from inspiration found from my own stuff! While trying to come up with an idea for my super-chatty sister's birthday card, I found this delightful paper pad from Doodlebug Design. So many bright & fun papers! I then unearthed an old Sizzix Originals Die and paired it with a Big Hello Die from Simon Says Stamp and got to work.

It was fun to pick and choose which papers to use where - they all coordinate so well! I popped the Hello and Telephone up with foam and added a few buttons for interest. The inside was stamped with a balloon string that reminds me of the long, old-fashioned telephone cords. The flower is part of the Telephone Die.

So many ideas came to me from just this little 6 x 6 paper pad! I'm definitely going to make a few more cards while these supplies are out!

Supplies:
Paper: Doodlebug Design: take note
Dies: Simon Says Stamp: Big Hello and Sizzix Originals: Telephone & Diary
Stamps: Close to My Heart: Celebration and My Sentiments Exactly: Inspirational Birthday Innies & Outies
Ink: Distress Oxide: Spiced Marmalade & Mermaid Lagoon

I love this Autumn Splendor Stamp Set from Sunny Studios! The coordinating dies make it super easy to create many die cuts very quickly. Distress Oxide Galaxy

Created this card using a combination of distress inks, distress oxide inks and perfect pearls, along with a striped stencil. Can't believe how easy this was! The hardest part was cutting down the striped panel and then covering part of the galaxy background! I used Wilted Violet and Broken China Distress Oxide Inks as well as Distress Black Soot. Entering this in FMS300. Thanks for looking!

Freshly Made for You

I'm still recovering from the holidays, but while there are still a few things left to do to put my house back in order, I sorely needed to kick back and create! I followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #270 and created an ombre look using distress inks for the Less Is More #310 - Colour Challenge - for which I JUST missed the deadline. UGH! Oh well, it was fun to do:
I applied the various blue inks through a stencil, then paired the blues with a range of purples for an accent. These are my two favorite colors, I tend to use them often! Added some black foam to the 'You' for shadow and extra dimension. Thanks for stopping by!

Horse Love

Adding these cards to the Mix It Up Challenge #8 at Sugar Peas Designs. Their sketch was a good starting point for me as I knew I wanted to use these horse stickers (since my girls are at Horse Camp this week), but I just needed a sketch idea to get a design going. I've been trying to figure out how to add a little something to get that 'complete' look to my rather simple cards, and for these cards, distress inks seemed to do the trick. They make all the elements pop - a big difference in real life I took a photo of a before shot to help illustrate what a little distress ink can do. I just love my distress inks (perhaps that is why I own so many!!). TFL!

Before & After Inking:

Supplies Used:
Dies/Punches: Sizzix Heart #2, Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Set, Fiskars Bubbles Border Punch, EK Flourish Scroll Border Punch

Made this for My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #289 which uses this sketch:

I used brown fun foam to pop up the sentiment which not only gives it dimension but adds a shadow effect as well.  I will be sending it to my older daughter who is at another week of camp. I love this paper pad, I have to try not to make ALL their camp cards with it! TFL!

Happy Thoughts

Created this card using the sketch at Fusion. Several different blues going on here: Background is a blend of Distress Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans. I first stamped the flowers in a random pattern with VersaMark then embossed with Clear EP & heat set. The individual flower die cuts were also embossed but with Sparkle N Sprinkle's Royal Blue EP. The sentiment was stamped using Simon Says Stamp's Happy Stamp Set and heat embossed with White EP. The word Happy was die cut from a Spellbinders Sentiments One 'Happy Birthday' Die. I glued three of them together for added dimension. Added some flourishes, a blue brad, scroll border & ribbon & done! TFL!

Supplies Used:
Paper: Ranger Specialty Stamping Paper & Royal Blue & White cardstock
Ink: Distress: Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans
Embossing: VersaMark, Sparkle N Sprinkle Royal Blue EP, Clear & White EP
Stamps: Heartfelt Creations Botanical Floral1 & 2, Simon Says Stamp Happy

Quick Hello

This card was made some time ago using the left over Hello from another in-lay card that I made. I used a wood grain embossing folder then inked the design before cutting out the word. I added a bit of washi tape and some other left over paper pieces and I was done - quick & easy. It came out okay, but I think it is lacking some pizazz...but, I just love this Hello Die.  I am sure I will make many more versions of a 'hello card' in the future. TFL!

Supplies:
Ink: Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Other: Darice Wood Grain EF, washi tape

Bright Butterflies

Can't believe it's the end of March already....many cards have been made since my last post, but I so many other things have kept me busy that I haven't been able to keep up. Here's hoping this post will be the first of many more to come SOON!

This card started with the thought of using the freebie sparkly purple butterflies my sister shared with me (see 'Planned Card' photo below), but, as usual, it kind of grew a mind of its own and, well, the final version is more colorful. Am loving my new sentiment dies and am grateful to Jennifer McGuire's tips for adhering these delicate die cuts (Ranger Multi Medium (Matte) applied with micro brushes is awesome!).
